About STAR Kampuchea

Profile
STAR Kampuchea’s keyword is advocacy, the “organized efforts and actions that use the instruments of democracy to establish and implement laws and policies that will create a just and equitable society” (Definition of the Advocacy Institute, Washington, D.C.). Advocacy activities should strengthen democracy, the respect for human rights and civil society on the basis of the rule of law

Philosophy
STAR Kampuchea’s overall goal is aims to promote democracy and poverty reduction in Cambodia by strengthening civil society and increasing popular participation.

Structure
STAR Kampuchea can be described as a network organization cooperating with civil society organizations in Phnom Penh and seven provinces.

Partners
Currently STAR Kampuchea has 40officially affiliated Cooperating Organizations and works together with 11 Provincial Advocacy Networks and the STAR Kampuchea Advocacy Team.

Membership
STAR Kampuchea is a member of several international networks.

Recognition of STAR Kampuchea
In October 2004, STAR Kampuchea received the WANGO Civil Society Development Award 2004 in Budapest, Hungary.
