| Advocacy Capacity Building Program (ACP) |
The Advocacy Capacity Building Program (ACP) aims
to build the capacity of grassroots organizations. The
ACP offers training to partner groups and co-operating
organizations, which should increase their ability to
advocate for their interests and needs.
To build strong and dynamic civil society organizations,
the ACP also offers organizational and financial
support. In the frame of the partners’ network, the
organizations have the opportunity to get in contact
with each other, to exchange information and to build up
networks.
It is STAR Kampuchea and its Cooperating Organizations’
aim that women’s empowerment plays an equal role in the
country’s civil society movement as well as its
political affairs. Therefore STAR Kampuchea and its
Cooperating Organizations give priority to the inclusion
of female participants in the capacity-building
activities and is developing strategies to realize this
objective especially on the local level.
The ACP’s services include training, advice and
networking:
Training
The ACP conducts training on the Land and Forestry Law
and on the Fishery Law. It also offers training to
strengthen the advocacy skills of the Local NGOs.
New Training on “Grassroots Advocacy”
The professional Training of Trainers (TOT) on
“Grassroots Advocacy” will focus on strengthening the
local organization’s capacity to tackle specific land,
fishery and forestry conflicts.
Echoed Training Courses
Following the TOTs, the STAR Kampuchea’s Cooperating
Organizations and Provincial Advocacy Networks transfer
the knowledge at local level.
Study tours
The Advocacy Capacity Building regularly organizes study
tours to different Cambodian provinces or abroad. The
participants should benefit from the experience from
NGOs and communities in other parts of the country and
the world.
Financial and technical support
The ACP offers its Cooperating Organizations and
Networks financial assistance as well as advocacy and
technical advice. Other interested organizations also
can enlist the ACP’s advice.
Civil Society Forum
At the two-day meeting, local, national and
international organizations are invited to discuss
possible strategies to foster civil society
organizations in Cambodia.
