AAP staff will organize one Labour Forum per year (usually May or June) including workers and members from at least 10 trade unions and union federations. At the Forum, possible strategies to enforce the labour law in Cambodia and to improve labour conditions are discussed with representatives from relevant institutions.
To strengthen the labor movement in Cambodia, STAR
Kampuchea organizes a series of labor forums in
cooperation with the Union Federations, The Association, the Trade Unions
and labor organizations.
Trade Unions are the legitimate bodies to mobilize
people at the grassroots to tackle labor related
challenges. Therefore the forums aim to improve the
organizations’ and workers’ knowledge and their network
activities. The participants discuss current political
issues and legislation. Discussion topics are, for
example, STAR Kampuchea has conducted the forum was took place on 30th June 2009 On " Labor Right " at the Teacher Training Center in Phnom Penh. The forum aimed to advocate and convincing the National Assembly, the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training and any other relevant competence institutions, to understand the consequences and situations for laborers. The forum was also used to persuade employers to respect the rights of laborers and have them agree to suggestions made by laborers/worker.
