| STAR Kampuchea Foundation |
The STAR Kampuchea Foundation is the vision for STAR
Kampuchea’s future and by far the biggest step in the
organization’s history. With this project STAR Kampuchea
aims:
- to develop comprehensive services to strengthen Civil
Society Organizations
- to develop the organization’s profile and to firmly
establish STAR Kampuchea as a well-known and strong
organization
- to generate a strong income basis to decrease STAR
Kampuchea’s dependency on donors.
At the same time, STAR Kampuchea is developing a concept
for its organizational development and is creating new
services to strengthen Civil Society Organizations. All
activities are carried out in cooperation with STAR
Kampuchea’s partner organizations.
STAR Kampuchea started the program “Volunteer Action for
Cambodia” (VAC) in December 2004. The program should
bring foreign students and graduates to Cambodia to
exchange cultural and work experience and to contribute
new impulses and fresh ideas to both Cambodian and the
volunteers’ home society. Volunteer placements in
different fields of development work in Phnom Penh and
in the provinces are offered. A website has been created
for interested students (www.vacambodia.org).
The new program is organized by the Cambodian volunteers
at STAR Kampuchea who can improve their international
networking skills while participating in this
outstanding activity.
 Further services are planned:
• Training Center/Guest House: A well-equipped training
center with pleasant accommodation will create a homefor
communication, advice, networking and learning for civil
society organizations and their members.
• Coffee Shops: Reasonable food and drinks should offer
people a place for recreation and coming together. In a
relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, the guests can find
information and contact with organizations, which offer
services for people in need or opportunities to commit
oneself to an organization.
• Tourism Services: Cambodian and foreign visitors
should have the possibility to learn about the organisations and activities of Civil Society in
different parts of the country. Local study tours and
meetings with civil society organizations are organized
according to the interests of the visitors.
All services should provide job opportunities for
students and people in need.
