Have you ever thought of what it’s like to work in a garment factory or are you currently looking for a job in a garment and apparel industry? @TheAsiaFoundation has teamed up with @dfat.gov.au and @BetterFactoriesCambodia to produce “Factory Life.” A series of five short films that aims to equip current workers and potential job seekers with information on types of jobs, workplace safety, opportunities for promotion, supportive management and diverse career opportunities in the garment and apparel sector. Stay tuned for more videos that will cover the various aspects of life inside garment and apparel factories.

១. វីដេអូផ្សព្វផ្សាយ

តើអ្នកធ្លាប់គិតថាការធ្វើការរោងចក្រមានស្ថានភាពយ៉ាងណាដែរ?តើអ្នកកំពុងស្វែងរកការងារក្នុងវិស័យកាត់ដេរនេះមែនទេ? អង្គការមូលនិធិអាស៊ីបានសហការជាមួយក្រសួងការបរទេស និងពាណិជ្ជកម្មអូស្ត្រាលី នៃរដ្ឋាភិបាលអូស្រ្តាលី និងគម្រោង Better Factories Cambodia ដើម្បីផលិតជាកម្រងវីដេអូ «ជីវិតរោងចក្រ»។ កម្រងវីដេអូទាំង៥នេះ មានគោលបំណងដើម្បីផ្តល់ជាជំនួយទៅដល់កម្មកររោងចក្របច្ចុប្បន្ន និងអ្នកដែលចង់ធ្វើក្នុងវិស័យនេះ ជាព័ត៌មានអំពីប្រភេទការងារ សុវត្ថិភាពកន្លែងធ្វើការ ឱកាសក្នុងការឡើងតំណែង អ្នកគ្រប់គ្រងដែលចង់ជួយជ្រោមជ្រែង និងឱកាសការងារផ្សេងៗក្នុងវិស័យកាត់ដេរ។ សូមរង់ចាំទស្សនាកម្រងវីដេអូជាច្រើនទៀត ដែលនិយាយអំពីជ្រុងនានានៃជីវិតក្នុងវិស័យរោងចក្រ។

Garment Sewer

What is it like to work in a garment factory in Cambodia? How has factory standardization impacted factory employees and their families? The video features the experience of a sewer in one of the standard factories in Cambodia where needed facilities are in place. It is worth noting that by January 1st, 2020, it is approved that minimum wage for factory workers including sewer will be 190USD/month, up from 182USD/month in 2019.

Cambodia’s garment sector has created over 700,000 direct jobs and many indirect jobs for Cambodian people across the country. At a factory, you don’t have to be a sewer to work there. You can be a mechanic, electrician, engineer and nurse among others. The video highlights the diversity of jobs available at a garment factory. Are you ready to be part of this?
